Seymour, Majorette Instructor Cyndi Jess and Danielle Van Ness, Flag Instructors Fall 1999 Dear fellow Band Alumni, The Oak Harbor High School Band along with the Alumni Band will be performing this year at the September 10, 1999, football game. We are inviting you to participate and become part of the Alumni Band to see old classmates and relive the experience of playing on the marching field once again. A full evening of activities and fun have been planned to make this an exciting night to remember for past and present members of the Oak Harbor High School Marching Band. This year the Alumni Band has invited a past OHHS band director, John Freytag, back to be honored at our band reunion. John will be present to direct both the alumni and the present high school band on this evening. John's wife, Della May, will also be present for the festivities. During the pregame, the Alumni Band will march onto the field in a block band formation to join the high school band. Both bands will perform Washington Post March, OHHS Alma Mater, and the Star Spangled Banner. During the halftime performance, the Alumni Band will also march onto the field in a block band formation to perform Military Escort and Stars and Stripes Forever Trio. Military Escort was selected by John Freytag, as it was the first march his high school students learned to play and march at Oak Harbor High School. There will be an Alumni Band rehearsal on Wednesday, September 8, 1999, from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT. The rehearsal will take place in the high school band room. The band room is located at the northeast corner of the high school. John Freytag will be present at this rehearsal to renew old friendships and rehearse the Alumni Band. Music will be issued at Wednesday's rehearsal and the night of the game. On Friday, September 10, the Alumni Band will meet in the middle band room. We will have signs directing you where to go when you enter the building. You may leave cases or other belongings in this room, as the room will be locked during the game. The dress for the evening will be the traditional school colors, Red and Green. At 6:15 PM EDT, the Alumni Band will meet in the gymnasium for a group picture. Do Not Be Late!! Anyone interested in purchasing a picture can order them on a pre-paid basis that night. An 8 x 10 color picture will be $8.00. Please make checks payable to: Fehlhaber's Studio. At 6:45 PM EDT, the Alumni Band will march with the high school band to the stadium where there will be a block of bleachers reserved. All family and friends are invited to sit with the Alumni Band. All Alumni Band members will be admitted free to the game. Anyone not performing in the Alumni Band, including spouses and family members, must purchase a ticket for the game. After the game, there will be a reception in the band room for all Alumni Band members and families. A community reception for John and Della May Freytag is being organized for Saturday, September 11, 1999, at the Oak Harbor Hotel starting at 12:30 PM EDT. Reservations can be made by calling the Oak Harbor Hotel at 419-898-4841 or Mary Windisch at 419-898-6110. An account has been set up at the National Bank of Oak Harbor for John and Della May Freytag Day. This account was established to accept donations to defray costs of the reunion and to purchase a well-deserved gift from the Alumni Band.
